About Formula Student

Formula Student, stemming from Formula SAE in 1981, challenges student teams worldwide to design, build, and race small Formula-style cars annually. Originating in Texas, it has evolved into a global competition across Europe and beyond, emphasizing design, problem-solving, and teamwork. Evaluations encompass diverse factors like design, finances, teamwork, and innovation.

URE started building their first combustion vehicle in 2003. In 2010, Formula Student Electric debuted for electric vehicles, where URE entered and has competed ever since. Later, Formula Student introduced Formula Student Driverless in 2017, evolving in 2022 with the driverless cup, combining autonomous and manual driving challenges. URE remains committed to competing in this dynamic evolution of the competition.

The aerodynamics of the URE18 car were tested in the wind tunnel using a 40% scale model. Over 60 different configurations were tested, with variable ride height, yaw angle, and with or without the wings, collecting precious data on the drag and downforce. This will help us validate our CFD simulations, ensuring that what we see in the simulations is realistic!
